Welcome to the information pages for the
Jasper County Marine Terminal project!
For more than a decade, Jasper County has been planning the South Atlantic International Terminal, a new deep-water terminal to be on the north side of the lower Savannah River.
The project will bring significant economic benefits to the South Carolina Lowcountry—including employment, commerce and tax revenue. Note that the county’s plan includes financing and a contract with one of the world’s most experienced American operators of similar terminals, a significant advantage over the unfunded proposals from the South Carolina Ports Authority (SPA).
Further, the county leadership believes that a general-purpose government like Jasper County can do a better job building a terminal in a rural area than a single-purpose government like SPA.
